A wise medicine man once imparted to us the profound truth that caring cannot simply be taught—it is innate. Iboga, meaning “to care for”, encapsulates this sentiment beautifully.
As stewards of this sacred medicine, we approach the responsibility with utmost reverence.
In our commitment to upholding the integrity of iboga ceremonies and facilitating transformative psycho-spiritual journeys, we recognize the importance of offering comprehensive training for those interested in becoming an iboga provider or facilitator.
Our sessions will delve into essential aspects such as maintaining integrity, ensuring safety, and fostering profound experiences with iboga.

Our 6-month Facilitator Training Program offers a comprehensive approach, blending in-person experience with e-based learning, mentorship, and resources. The program is structured to ensure you gain practical knowledge and hands-on experience in holding safe and ethical spaces.
Program Features:
- Prerequisite Ceremony Attendance: The journey begins by joining us as a guest in a retreat. This is an essential step for both you and us—to spend time together, experience our approach, and ensure alignment. This prerequisite is not included in the program cost.
- Facilitator Apprenticeships: As part of your training, you will volunteer to assist in a minimum of 4 ceremonies (up to 6, depending on your pace of learning). These hands-on experiences will allow you to integrate what you’ve learned and develop confidence in your ability to support others.
- E-Based Training: Access a robust library of online modules covering the foundational principles of facilitation, ethics, and the nuances of supporting others during their psychedelic journeys.
- One-on-One Mentorship: Personalized guidance to help you grow into your role as a facilitator and address specific areas of development.
- Certification and Community: Upon completing the program, you’ll be listed on our website as part of our Trusted Facilitator Network and invited to join future ceremonies as a paid facilitator.
Program Cost: $10,000 USD
The program cost does not include the initial retreat as a guest. However, this step is essential for your growth and understanding of our process. After your initial ceremony and when you feel the experience has settled, we can discuss the application and training process in greater detail.
Why This Training Matters
Facilitating transformational experiences is a sacred responsibility. This program is designed to guide those who are truly ready to serve, embody the principles of holding space, and carry out this work with humility, safety, and respect. It’s not just about learning techniques; it’s about becoming a facilitator who is aligned with the work on every level—spiritually, ethically, and practically.
We invite you to begin your journey with us if you feel called to step into this role.
Provider Training
Do you feel called to serve Iboga and guide others through its profound transformational journey?
In recent years, we’ve seen a troubling trend in the Iboga space: individuals from the West, often without proper training or therapeutic background, stepping into the role of providers. This lack of preparation has led to harm—physical, psychological, and spiritual—and perpetuates a neo-colonialist mindset that extracts from Africa without giving back.
At Root & Wisdom, we recognize a difficult reality: many will serve Iboga regardless of their readiness or alignment. While we do not claim the authority to grant anyone the “blessing” to serve, we created the Iboga Provider Training Program to ensure that those who choose to walk this path do so with integrity, safety, and reverence for the sacred traditions of Iboga.
True service is not a decision made lightly. It is not born of ego, desire, or lack—it must be rooted in humility, selflessness, and a deep calling from the plant itself, discovered through a relationship with the Bwiti people, the land of Gabon, and Iboga’s profound teachings.

Giving Back To Gabon
We are committed to true reciprocity. 100% of the program tuition ($20,000 USD) is donated to Sacred Roots Foundation, our 501(c)(3) nonprofit, and is fully allocated to initiatives in Gabon. This contribution is tax-deductible.
Here’s how your tuition is used:
- 85% supports Mama Toto’s Women’s Village Restoration Project, which uplifts and restores the communities and land that have gifted the world Iboga.
- 10% goes to Blessings of the Forest, a program that protects the sacred Iboga plant.
- 5% is retained to cover administrative costs for running these initiatives.
This program is more than training—it’s an act of reciprocity and reverence, ensuring that the traditions and communities at the heart of Iboga continue to thrive for generations to come.

A Prerequisite for Application
Before applying to the program, you must first attend a retreat with us as a guest. This prerequisite allows us to spend meaningful time together and observe how you engage with the medicine and explore your intentions. This time also allows you to experience how we hold space, ensuring you feel confident that Root & Wisdom fits your training needs.
Additionally, initiation in Gabon is mandatory before your application can be accepted. This experience connects you to the Bwiti lineage and offers invaluable insight into the sacred traditions of Iboga. The retreat and the Gabon initiation costs are not included in the $20,000 program fee, but we will guide you in connecting with a Bwiti village that aligns with your path.
Living Life as a Ceremony
This program is built on a core principle: you cannot hold space for others unless you live your life as a ceremony. Personal alignment, ongoing inner work, and unwavering integrity are non-negotiable for anyone stepping into this sacred role. Simply put, your entire life must reflect this commitment. You cannot serve medicine one day and act out of alignment the next—it does not work that way.
A Final Reminder
The decision to serve Iboga is not yours to make—it is a path only Iboga can place you on. If you feel deeply called to honor this sacred work and meet the prerequisites, we invite you to apply. Specific program details will be shared during the application and interview process.
This program is a profound journey of service, safety, and reciprocity, ensuring the sacred tradition of Iboga is upheld with integrity while giving back to the land and people from which it originates.
